The Seige is Over, 2nd marathon bomber captured alive after brother killed in shoot-out PICTURES

One of the Boston bombing suspects is captured after exchanging gunfire with police for an hour while holed up in a boat.

COPS hunting fugitive Dzhokhar Tsarnaev finally snared him after a woman reported finding a pile of bloody clothes in her shed.

The crazed 19-year-old Boston Marathon bomber had been on the run for 8½ hours after his brother died after a terrifying shootout with police.  He is in a serious condition and has been taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.  Cops trapped Tsarnaev as he hid in a boat in the woman’s back garden in the Watertown district after she reported that it had been “cleared” with her shed earlier that day.  He was spotted by a police helicopter which used a heat-seeking camera to confirm his location — and was feared to be wearing an IED bomb-vest.  the boat in a backyard in Franklin Street, Watertown, where Tsarnaev took refuge Hiding spot ... the boat in a backyard in Franklin Street, Watertown, where Tsarnaev took refuge  Officers raced to Franklin Street where armed police fired up to 30 shots in a short gun battle.  One cop was heard saying: “There is definite movement in the rear of that boat. He stood up.”  A witness said: “We saw the Swat team get out and spread out all around the house and then the shots were fired.”  Eight explosions were heard, thought to be flash bang grenades, designed to disorientate the suspect.  Ambulances rushed to the scene, and a robot bomb disposal squad was then sent into the area to check for explosives.  There were also fears last night that the boat was filled with fuel.  The stand-off happened moments after Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick lifted a “stay at home” ban.

An army of TEN THOUSAND police, FBI and national guard had hunted the surviving brother across Boston — after a trail of havoc by the ethnic Chechen terrorists yesterday left one officer dead and another fighting for life.
It emerged last night that older brother Tamerlan was quizzed by the FBI in 2011 after a request by an unidentified foreign government.

But officials failed to find any “derogatory” information on him.
Up to a million residents had been told to hole up indoors yesterday as the ensuing dragnet saw the city go into virtual lockdown — with fleets of armoured vehicles cruising the streets.
Helicopters hovered as Boston again resembled a warzone — five days after two bombs killed three and injured 176 at the marathon.
The chilling scenes came after cop Sean Collier, 26, became the FOURTH victim killed by the fanatical duo — both Muslims and ethnic Chechens.
The officer, on night patrol at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was investigating reports of a disturbance.
Just hours earlier cops had released close-ups of two suspects caught on film minutes before the bombs at the marathon went off.
Both were touting rucksacks — containing explosives that had been packed into pressure cookers. The murdered officer was shot dead in his car by medical student Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan, 26 — who had been at a 7-Eleven convenience store as it was robbed.
The two cop killers then turned carjackers, forcing a terrified man at the wheel of a Mercedes SUV to drive them from the scene.
He was held for 30 minutes as the pair used his cashcard to withdraw $800, or £525, before being dumped unharmed at a petrol station.

Meanwhile Swat teams and national guard troops had joined cops pouring into the suburb of Watertown — six miles from the city centre. During a high-speed chase the brothers shot at their pursuers and threw explosives.
One resident who saw the bloody climax as the fleeing vehicle pulled over told of seeing two men using it as a shield to fire a dozen cops.
Andrew Kitzenburg told how the gunmen fired at a police SUV as it drove towards them at 1am.
The vehicle rolled to the side of the road, crashing into two cars in his drive. The two maniacs then hurled a bomb at the line of police as 200 rounds of ammo were exchanged.
Andrew said: “They lit it and threw it. It went 20 yards at most. The device did explode. One of the men ran towards the police officers and was tackled.”

That was the older brother, who was taken to hospital dying from blast injuries and bullet wounds.
The younger one leapt into the SUV — and drove it at the police.
Andrew said: “The car went right through the cops — broke right through.”
Critically-wounded officer Richard Donahue, 33, was rushed to hospital as colleagues brought in robots to deal with backpacks left at the scene. Seven home-made explosives, including a pressure cooker bomb like the one used in the marathon attack, were found.
Cops fearing bombs could be triggered by mobiles screamed at newsmen at the scene: “Turn off your phones if you want to live.”

Last night police fanned out from the suburb to search every home for the fugitive. An explosive trigger was said to have been found on his sibling’s body, fuelling fears he had rigged himself as a human bomb.
He was barely nine when he and his brother went to live in the US. They grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where their mum was said to be one of two people arrested.
Dad Anzor now lives in Dagestan, southern Russia, where he was grilled by secret service agents.
President Vladimir Putin was kept updated — as was Barack Obama. Anzor insisted his sons were innocent — and told how they reassured him when he phoned after the marathon was bombed: “Everything is good, Papa.” Speaking in Dagestan the father begged his youngest: “Give up. Come home.”
Earlier the bombers’ uncle Ruslan Tsarni said: “Turn yourself in and ask for forgiveness.”
